As a result of the substantial number of applications received during each term, the disbursement of funds may be delayed until the midway point of the application term. We advise you to make appropriate plans in light of this information.
If a student is in possession of an SFU entrance scholarship, they will not be eligible for any other scholarship administered by the university until the entrance scholarship has been completely paid out. This policy applies to any term in which the entrance scholarship is deferred.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for Simon Fraser University Scholarships for Canadian and International students, applicants are expected to fulfill the following criteria:
- Nationality: Applicants must be Canadian or International students.
- Course Completion: Applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 units of standard graded courses at SFU.
- Course Enrollment: Applicants must be enrolled in at least 12 units of standard graded courses at SFU during the term of application.
- Minimum CGPA: Applicants must maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 at SFU.
- Exclusions: Challenge, audit, and credit-free courses are not considered for eligibility.
- Co-op Enrollment: Enrolling in a Co-op term (3 units) does not fulfill the enrollment requirement as it is not considered a standard graded course.
- Students with Disabilities: Students with disabilities are eligible to apply for scholarships if they are enrolled in a minimum of 6 or more units of standard graded courses and meet all other eligibility requirements. Additionally, at the time of application, the student must provide a letter from SFU’s Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) confirming their registration with the Centre (CAL).
Application Procedure:

- Review the Summer 2023 Scholarship and Awards List to identify the scholarships/awards you wish to apply for.
- Access the Student Information System (go.sfu.ca) and log in.
- Navigate to the “Student Center” section.
- Find the “Financial Aid and Awards” tab under the “Finances” section.
- Click on “Apply for Scholarships/Awards”.
- On your online application, list the scholarships/awards you intend to apply for.
- Complete your application thoroughly and submit it.
