Eligible Nationalities:
The Central South University Silk Road Scholarships for 2024 are open to applicants from all nationalities except Chinese.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Outstanding Non-Chinese Graduates with High Academic Achievement, Optimal Health, and Clean Legal Record.
- Master’s Degree Candidates should be below 35 years, and Doctoral Degree Candidates should be below 40 years.
- No previous sponsorship allowed (applicants must provide a declaration to this effect).
- Language Proficiency Criteria:
- For Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 4 score of 260 or above.
- For English-taught programs: Minimum IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 85.
- Exemptions for Linguistic Proficiency: a. First Language or Official Language is Chinese or English. b. Completion of a Degree Program Taught in Chinese or English.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong academic background, as well as scientific and innovative capabilities.
Application Procedure:
- Apply Online through CSU Application System:
- This step is mandatory; applicants failing to complete it will not be considered.
- Register and log in to the CSU international student online system (CSU Login).
- Select Chinese Government Scholarship, and submit the application.
- Apply Online via CSC System:
- Access the CSC Online Application at CSC Online Application.
- Choose program category Type B.
- Enter Central South University Agency number: 10533.
- Fill in the information, submit it online, and print the application form.
- Submit Application Materials to Central South University:
- Submit the application materials to both systems; note that CSC does not accept application materials.
- Required application materials include:
a. Copy of Passport Home Page. If the passport validity does not meet the requirement, apply for a new passport before submitting the application. b. Certificate of the Highest Academic Degree (Notarized photocopy in Chinese or English). For final year students, provide the pre-graduate certificate. c. Academic Transcripts. Transcripts must be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. If in a language other than Chinese or English, attach notarized English translations. d. Language Qualification Certificates. Chinese-taught program applicants must submit valid HSK reports, while English-taught program applicants should provide valid IELTS or TOEFL reports. e. Study Plan Proposal. A study plan written in Chinese or English, exceeding 1,000 characters or words. Specify previous research background, achievements, prospective research field, and plan. Doctoral student proposals should be signed by the Chinese supervisor. f. Personal Statement Video. A 1-minute video explaining education and research background, demonstrating research potential and ability (MP4 format, not exceeding 40MB). g. CV. h. Recommendation Letters. Two letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors, describing the applicant’s objectives, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth. Issue date should be after October 1, 2023. i. Acceptance Letter (Mandatory, see format at Acceptance Letter.docx). j. Published Papers Information (optional). k. Foreigner Physical Examination Form and blood test reports. The examination date must be after October 1, 2023. Bring the original copy to the university if admitted. l. Non-Criminal Record Report. Submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority after October 1, 2023. m. Other Supporting Materials (Rewards, certificates, etc.). n. Personal Statement confirming no funding from other organizations or institutions (see format at Personal Statement.docx).
