HAN University of Applied Sciences Scholarships 2025
HAN University of Applied Sciences has announced its 2025 scholarship program for international students from non-EU/EEA countries. This program offers substantial financial support for those enrolling in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs for the February 2025 intake. The scholarships, provided in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, include the HAN NL Scholarship and the Honors Scholarship. These scholarships aim to alleviate financial burdens and promote academic excellence among talented students.
To be eligible, candidates must meet specific criteria, including acceptance into a full-time English-taught program at HAN and achieving the required English proficiency scores. The application process involves submitting a motivation letter, CV, and a short video by October 19, 2024. Results will be announced on November 3, 2024.

Benefits
HAN University offers two main scholarships to support international students:
- HAN NL ScholarshipFor Bachelor’s Degree Students:
- Total award up to €12,500.
- €2,500 per semester during the first year.
- €2,500 annually for the next three years, contingent on successfully completing 45 credits each year.
For Master’s Degree Students:
- Total award up to €5,000.
- €2,500 per semester.
- Honors ScholarshipFor Bachelor’s Degree Students:
- Total award up to €7,500.
- €2,500 annually starting from the second year, contingent on successfully completing 45 credits each year.
For Master’s Degree Students:
- One-time award of €2,500, disbursed in the second semester.
Eligible Nationalities:
International students from non-EU/EEA countries are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Citizenship
- You must be a citizen of a country outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).
- Educational Background
- You cannot hold a degree from a university or institution in the Netherlands.
- You must not have previously enrolled in a degree program at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences.
- Program Admission
- You need to be admitted to a full-time, English-taught bachelor’s or master’s program at HAN University of Applied Sciences.
- English Language Proficiency
- You must demonstrate English proficiency by achieving one of the following minimum scores:
- IELTS: 6.5
- TOEFL iBT: 90
- Cambridge Certificate (CAE or CPE)

Step 1: Secure Your Spot at HAN
- Apply for a Degree Program
- Submit your application for a full-time, English-taught bachelor’s or master’s program at HAN. Ensure you meet the program’s deadlines as diploma evaluations take time. Check the deadlines here.
- Get Accepted
- Once you receive your acceptance letter, check your eligibility for a scholarship.
Step 2: Craft Your Scholarship Application
After acceptance and confirmation of eligibility, you will receive an email inviting you to apply for a scholarship. Prepare the following documents:
- Motivation Letter
- Showcase why you will be an outstanding HAN student. Explain your goals and how studying at HAN aligns with your aspirations.
- Short Video Introduction (Max. 3 minutes)
- Introduce yourself and highlight your strengths. Address the following prompts:
- Tell us about yourself and your areas of expertise.
- What do your teachers and friends admire about you?
- Why did you choose this specific program at HAN?
- Imagine yourself in a team environment. What role would you play, and why?
- Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
- Introduce yourself and highlight your strengths. Address the following prompts:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Provide a clear and concise overview of your academic background and relevant experiences.
Step 3: Submit Your Application
Follow the link provided in the invitation email to complete the online application and upload your prepared documents (motivation letter, video, and CV) by the deadline:
- For February Intake: October 19th, 12:00 PM CEST
Step 4: Await the Decision
You will receive notification regarding your scholarship application via email on the following date:
- For February Intake: November 3rd
Step 5: Claim Your Scholarship (if awarded)
If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive an email with instructions. Submit your written acceptance by the deadline specified in the notification letter.
