The University of Lausanne Switzerland UNIL Masters Grants Scholarships 2025 is now open for international students. This prestigious scholarship allows applicants to pursue a Master’s degree in a variety of subjects offered at the University of Lausanne (UNIL). The application deadline is November 1, 2024.

Scholarship Description

The University of Lausanne is proud to offer its Master’s Grants Scholarships 2025, designed to attract exceptional students from around the globe. This scholarship is exclusively available to students who have completed their undergraduate studies at foreign universities and demonstrate academic excellence. Each year, approximately ten scholarships are awarded to deserving candidates, giving them a unique opportunity to further their education in a world-class academic environment.

Degree Level

The UNIL Masters Grants Scholarships 2025 supports students aiming to undertake a Master’s degree program at the University of Lausanne.

Eligible Subjects

Applicants can choose from a wide range of Master’s programs at UNIL. The complete list of eligible Master’s degrees can be found on the official UNIL website. However, applications are not accepted for the following programs:

  • Master from the School of Medicine
  • Master in Sciences and Practices of Education
  • Master of Law (with exceptions for specializations in “International and Comparative Law,” “Legal Theory,” and “International Tax Law and Policy”)
  • Master of Science in Physical Education and Sport Didactics
  • Master of Science in Health Sciences
  • Master of Science in Sustainable Management & Technology
  • Master of Science in Human Taphonomy
  • All MASs (3rd cycle programs and further education programs)

Additional Requirements

  • Master in Psychology: Applicants holding a foreign Bachelor’s degree in psychology must secure admission for a Master’s program in psychology at a university in the country where the Bachelor’s degree was earned.
  • Master in Finance: Applicants with a foreign Bachelor’s degree in finance must secure a place for a Master’s in finance at a university in the country where their Bachelor’s degree was awarded.

Benefits of the UNIL Masters Grants Scholarships 2025

The UNIL Master’s Excellence Scholarship offers the following benefits:

  • A financial grant of CHF 1,600 per month, awarded for the minimum statutory duration of the chosen Master’s program. While this grant covers a significant portion of living expenses, it is not a fully funded scholarship. Applicants are advised to refer to the reference budget for living costs in Switzerland to plan additional financial needs.
  • In addition to the financial support, recipients of the scholarship are exempt from the fixed registration fees for their studies at UNIL. However, a minimal administrative fee of CHF 80 per semester will still apply, further easing the financial burden and allowing students to concentrate on their academic pursuits.

Eligible Nationalities

The UNIL Masters Grants Scholarships 2025 is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UNIL Master’s Grants Scholarships 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Foreign Degree: Must hold a university degree from outside Switzerland that is equivalent to a Swiss bachelor’s degree, completed before the start of the Master’s program at UNIL.
  2. Academic Excellence: Must have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in previous studies.
  3. Language Proficiency: Must possess a minimum language proficiency level of C1 in French or C1 in English, depending on the language of instruction for the selected Master’s program.
  4. Not Registered at UNIL: Applicants must not currently be registered at the University of Lausanne.
  5. Administrative Fee: Must have paid the required CHF 200 administrative fee (as outlined in the document “list of documents for an application”).

Important Note:

Withdrawal from the Master’s program will lead to the suspension of the scholarship.

Application Procedure

Application for Master’s Scholarship and Admission

Important Note: The application form for the Master’s Scholarship also serves as an application for admission to the selected Master’s program at UNIL. Therefore, you do not need to submit a separate application to the Admission Office (SII).

Online Application and Required Documents

  • Online Submission: Applicants must complete their submission online by uploading their entire application file in PDF format.
  • Required Documents: Refer to the accompanying document for a comprehensive list of required documents.
  • Incomplete Applications: Applications that are incomplete or submitted via email will not be considered.
  • Certified Copies for Non-Lisbon Recognition Convention Countries: If your Bachelor’s degree was awarded by a university in a country that has not ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention, you are required to send certified copies of your university documents in a sealed envelope via postal mail. Please consult the provided instructions for details on the procedure.

Note for Lisbon Recognition Convention Countries

If your Bachelor’s degree was awarded by a university in a country that has ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention, you do not need to send certified copies by postal mail.

Application Deadline and Program Start Dates

  • Application Deadline: The complete online application must be submitted by November 1, 2024.
  • Program Start Dates: The Master’s program will commence in the following academic year, starting either in the autumn or spring semester, depending on the specific program.

Incomplete Applications

Please ensure that your application is complete, including certified copies of your university documents (if required). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
