FlexECon Project?
In this project, you’ll work with experts from the University of Galway and ESRI (a big research center). Your job is to study how people use energy, like electricity, and figure out ways to make it more efficient.
For example:
- How do different prices for electricity affect how people use it?
- Can we send helpful tips to encourage people to save energy?
You’ll use data and run experiments to find answers and help create new ideas for Ireland’s energy policies.
What Will You Get?
- €25,000 a year for living expenses (you don’t pay tax on this).
- Free tuition fees (worth up to €5,750 a year).
- The scholarship lasts 4 years and is paid for by Ireland’s energy authority (SEAI).

Who Can Apply?
You can apply if you:
- Have a good college degree in Economics or a similar subject.
- Have great skills in math and problem-solving.
- Can speak and write very well in English.
- Are happy to take some extra classes as part of the PhD program.
Bonus: If you already have a Master’s degree, that’s even better!
