Yokohama National University (CSC) Scholarships 2025

Yokohama National University (YNU), in collaboration with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), is inviting applications from Chinese students for its CSC-YNU Joint Scholarship Program. This program offers opportunities to:

• Doctoral Students: Enroll in YNU’s graduate schools starting October 2025 or April 2026.
• Co-supervised Doctoral Study Students: Undertake special research at YNU between October 2025 and March 2026 as part of their doctoral studies.

This program is conducted under the Chinese Government Graduate Student Overseas Study Program, following the Memorandum of Understanding signed between CSC and YNU in July 2019.

Selection Process

• Applications are screened jointly by YNU and CSC.
• Short-listed candidates who pass YNU’s evaluation will be recommended to CSC for final approval.

Degree Levels

1. Doctoral Students (PhD):
   • Full-time doctoral studies across various graduate schools at YNU.
2. Co-supervised Doctoral Study Students:
   • Conduct part of your doctoral research at YNU in collaboration with your home institution.
3. Postdoctoral Fellows:
   • Research opportunities for individuals who have completed their PhD.

• Graduate School of International Social Sciences (Quota: 5 students)
• Graduate School of Engineering Science
• Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences
• Graduate School of Urban Innovation

Note: Some programs, such as the International Ph.D. Program in Economics, require earlier applications (October 15–November 5, 2024).

Scholarship Benefits

For Doctoral Students

• Full scholarships for enrollment in October 2025 or April 2026.
• Exemption from application, admission, and tuition fees.

For Co-supervised Doctoral Study Students

• Special research enrollment between October 2025 and March 2026.
• Approximately 10 students admitted annually.

For Visiting and Postdoctoral Fellows

• Visiting Fellows: Research periods of 3–12 months.
• Postdoctoral Fellows: Research periods of 6–24 months.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must hold Chinese nationality.
• Have a strong academic background with a GPA of 2.30/3.00 or higher.

1. Check Eligibility:
   Ensure you meet academic and language requirements.
2. Find a Prospective Advisor:
   • Identify a faculty advisor from YNU’s list.
   • Secure a Conditional Acceptance Form by consulting with the advisor.
3. Submit Required Documents:
   • Application Form
   • Research Proposal
   • Academic Transcripts
   • Certificate of Graduation
   • Official Recommendation Letter
   • Language Proficiency Documents

   Submission Periods:

   • Doctoral Students: January 13–28, 2025
   • Co-supervised Students: January 15–30, 2024
4. Screening and Results:
   • Short-listed applicants will receive a Letter of Conditional Acceptance by February 27, 2025.
