Islet Physiology and Metabolism PhD Scholarship:
The Section for Cell Biology and Physiology, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD scholarship in islet physiology and metabolism commencing 01.03.2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The laboratory investigates the regulation of glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells and the effect of glucagon on whole body metabolism. University is particularly interested in mechanisms related to mitochondria and how changes in metabolic mechanisms alter alpha cell function.
Therefore the university is recruiting a highly motivated PhD student to investigate how alpha cell metabolism contributes to the regulation of glucagon secretion. This particular project is focused on mitochondrial mechanisms, which lead to alpha cell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes.
