The ADB-JSP 2023 Scholarship is a program that sponsors postgraduate studies in fields related to development at participating academic institutions in Thailand. This program is funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Japan, and it covers tuition fees, airfare, and a monthly stipend for living expenses. The main objective of this scholarship is to assist the development of highly skilled professionals in the Asia-Pacific region to contribute towards sustainable economic growth and social development.

Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) 2023, Thailand is available for Bachelor, Masters level programs at the Asian Institute of Technology.

Scholarship Coverage:
The scholarships, which are granted at designated institutions (DIs) in the Asia and Pacific region, are valid for a duration of one to two years. Students pursuing studies in economics, business and management, science and technology, and other development-related fields are eligible to apply. The MA, MS, and MBA programs have a maximum scholarship duration of two years.
Remarks: The government of Japan has made clear that it would support only up to 2 years, consistent with similar assistance that it is coursing through other international development institutions.
Eligible Nationalities:
International students from A national of ADB borrowing member country can apply for this scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the ADB-JSP Scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be a national of an ADB borrowing member country (applicants from countries that are no longer borrowing from ADB are ineligible).
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with an outstanding academic record.
- Possess at least two years of full-time professional working experience acquired after obtaining a university degree at the time of application.
- Exhibit proficiency in both oral and written English communication skills to pursue studies.
- Be no older than 35 years of age at the time of application. However, for programs suitable for senior officials and managers, the age limit is 45 years old.
- Be in good health.
- Agree to return to their home country upon completion of studies under the Program.
- Be a non-Executive Director, non-Alternate Director, non-management staff, non-consultant, and not a relative of the aforementioned individuals in ADB.
- Not be a staff member of AIT.
- Not be residing or working in a country other than their home country.
- Not be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program.
- Not be supported by ADB-JSP for undergraduate studies, distance learning programs, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, or research projects.
How to Apply:
- Interested applicants should request information and application forms from the designated institution (DI) of their choice, such as AIT. They are encouraged to access various resources, including the DI’s website and handbooks, as well as DI information sessions held in-country, to help them decide on the DI and course they want to pursue.
- Applicants must inform AIT that they are applying for admission and want to be considered for the ADB-JSP Scholarship. They should submit the completed DI application form and required documentation, including the ADB-JSP Information Sheet form, to AIT. It is important for applicants to ensure the accuracy and completeness of their documentation, as providing false information may result in disqualification or termination of the award.
- Applicants need to provide their latest Income Tax Return or Certification of Annual/Monthly Salary (whichever is available) and Certification of Family Income (Parent’s Income/Spouse’s Income if married).
- AIT will screen and rank the applicants based on its own selection criteria and the eligibility and selection criteria of ADB. In the evaluation process, AIT may contact candidates for additional information. AIT will then submit its ranked list of applicants to ADB, along with the score/grading system used for ranking.
- ADB will review the submissions from AIT and recommend awardees to the Executive Director of Japan for formal approval based on ADB’s selection criteria.
- After approval by the Executive Director of Japan, ADB will inform AIT of the successful candidates.
- AIT will notify all applicants of the selection outcome and start making arrangements for the awardees to take up their scholarships.
- AIT will facilitate the signing of the Acceptance of Scholarship Award by the awardees, wherein they agree to return to their home country after completing their studies.
- ADB will send a congratulatory letter to each scholar upon acceptance.
