The 2023 FIG Foundation PhD Scholarships are currently accepting applications from international students who are citizens of low- and middle-income countries. The scholarships are available for PhD programs in any subject offered at universities in the United States. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is June 1, 2023.

Established in 2006 by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the FIG Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to provide support for the education and professional growth of surveyors and other related professionals around the world.

The primary objective of the foundation is to advance the quality of surveying education and research while also promoting the utilization of surveying as a means of addressing global issues. Its specific goals are to facilitate academic research and training, foster international partnerships, and improve society’s comprehension and utilization of surveying and geospatial information.

The foundation offers monetary assistance for a range of endeavors such as scholarships, research grants, and capacity-building initiatives intended for surveying professionals in developing nations. Furthermore, it provides backing for the FIG Young Surveyors Network, which acts as a platform for young surveyors to connect and participate in dialogues with their peers and the larger surveying community.

Individuals and organizations contribute donations to support the FIG Foundation, which functions separately from the FIG. A board of trustees governs the foundation’s operations, overseeing the management of its resources and ensuring that they are employed efficiently to fulfill its goals.
