The University of Oxford is now accepting applications for the fully funded AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme 2025–2026. This prestigious fellowship is designed to support African researchers with advanced degrees who are actively affiliated with African academic or research institutions.
The focus of this year’s programme is forced migration studies. Researchers with lived experience of displacement, including refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons (IDPs), or those under temporary protection, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Total Length: 12 months
Format:
10 months of virtual engagement
2-month residency at Oxford University during Trinity Term (April–June 2026)

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be nationals of an African country
Hold an advanced academic degree (e.g., PhD or equivalent)
Be currently affiliated with an African university or research institution
Support for Applicants with Lived Displacement Experience
The programme values the perspectives of those directly affected by displacement. If you have personal experience as a refugee, asylum seeker, IDP, or displaced person, your insights are invaluable to this field of research.
Support is available throughout the application process, including help with identifying potential research collaborators.
