The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) invites international graduate students to apply for the AKS Graduate Fellowship 2025 — a prestigious, fully funded six-month research program in South Korea.
This non-degree program is designed for talented students enrolled in master’s or doctoral programs abroad who are conducting research related to Korean Studies.

Monthly stipend of KRW 750,000

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be a non-Korean citizen or an overseas Korean who completed education outside Korea
Be currently enrolled in, or have completed coursework in, a master’s or doctoral program at a non-Korean university
Have a research topic related to Korean Studies
Demonstrate proficiency in English or Korean (preferred but not mandatory)
Not have previously received the AKS Graduate Fellowship

Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following:
Completed online application form
Personal statement
Research proposal (approximately 3 pages)
Official transcripts and degree certificates (Bachelor’s and Master’s)
Letter of recommendation from an academic advisor
Passport copy and recent ID photo
Proof of enrollment in doctoral program (if applicable)
Language proficiency certificates (optional)
Note: All documents must be in English or Korean. If originally in another language, they must be notarized and translated.
Fellowship Responsibilities
Enroll in at least one academic course or design an independent study plan
Collaborate with a designated faculty advisor at AKS
Reside in South Korea for the entire duration of the program
Submit a final research report or thesis (minimum 5,000 words in English)
Present research findings in a seminar
Provide a Certificate of Entry & Exit before departure
Failure to comply with the program guidelines may result in cancellation of the fellowship and reimbursement of funds.
