Scholarship Description:
Applied Urban Geography Award at the University of Melbourne’s Department of Geography has recognized an outstanding student. The scholarship is awarded to one student each year who has completed a geography major in a Bachelor of Science or Arts and is enrolling in a respective Honours program or a Master of Geography with a thesis in applied urban geography.
This scholarship is part of a five-year agreement Geografia has with the University of Melbourne’s Geography Department to encourage students specializing in economic and urban geography.
University:
The School of Geography at the University of Melbourne is embarking on an exciting period of growth. This follows its move into the Science Faculty at the start of 2015, and the recognition thereof the importance of Geography’s capacity to work in and across both the social and natural sciences.
At Melbourne, you can undertake a Geography major as part of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts. These lead on to various Masters and Ph.D. programs and a diversity of career opportunities.
Our current areas of world-leading research strength include international development, urbanization, biogeography and earth surface processes, with an overarching interest in the environment and environmental change. We are also embarking on a new specialization in health geography. An important element of teaching and learning within the School is to acknowledge Indigenous connections to the country.
Geography has been taught at the university for more than 50 years. Whether you join our journey as a student, a researcher, a community/industry collaborator, or all three, we look forward to your participation in the next fifty years.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for this application, you need to be enrolled through the honors stream of a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Environments, or Master of Geography in 2020.
