The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship 2025 is available for students pursuing Master’s and PhD programs at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU).

Available Subjects:

The scholarship covers all subjects offered under graduate programs at APU.

Benefits:

The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship provides a substantial monthly stipend to support international students during their studies in Japan:

  • Master’s students: 140,000 JPY per month for up to two years
  • Doctoral students: 140,000 JPY per month for up to two years
  • In addition to the monthly stipend, recipients are reimbursed up to 250,000 JPY for economy air travel and related travel expenses after arriving in Japan, easing the financial transition for students beginning their academic journey.

Beyond financial assistance, the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship offers scholars a strong support network through the Rotary Club in Japan. Students are encouraged to engage with local Rotary Clubs, participate in cultural exchange programs, and build professional connections. Eligible Nationalities:

The scholarship is open to international students from all countries, excluding Japanese citizens.

Eligibility Criteria:

Non-Japanese Nationality: Applicants must not hold Japanese citizenship, including dual nationality.

Student Visa: A valid student visa for Japan is required for enrollment in graduate studies.

Residency: Applicants must reside outside of Japan at the time of application and until the program begins.

Limited Previous Residency in Japan: Applicants should not have stayed in Japan for more than 31 days in total. Exceptions apply for family reasons or participation in the Rotary Youth Exchange high school program.

Japanese Language Proficiency: A minimum proficiency of JLPT N4 or above in Japanese is required.

Age Requirement: Applicants must have been born after April 2, 1980.

First-Time Applicant: Candidates should not have been previous recipients of the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship.

Application Procedure:

Application and Selection Process for April and September 2025 Enrollment:

  • Indicate your interest in being considered for the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship in the APU Online Application System and submit your application to APU by September 16, 2024.
  • Apply directly to the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation around October 2024 and inform them that the Letter of Recommendation from APU will be provided after the application deadline.
  • APU will issue a Letter of Recommendation to selected scholarship candidates after the admission results are announced on November 13, 2024.
  • Submit the Letter of Recommendation to the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation to complete your scholarship application.
