Coolidge Scholarship:
The Coolidge Scholarship, a prestigious annual award valued at $30,000, is a full-ride presidential scholarship covering tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. This non-partisan, need-blind program is open to applicants from any background and pursuing any academic discipline. Recipients have the flexibility to use the scholarship at any accredited college or university in the United States.
Application Process:
High school juniors are eligible to apply for the Coolidge Scholarship. Finalists undergo interviews with the Coolidge Scholars Finalist Jury during a finalist weekend at the Coolidge Historic Site in Vermont. Recipients are notified in their junior year before the college application process (current high school seniors are ineligible). Finalists who do not receive the Coolidge Scholarship may still qualify for a smaller, one-time college scholarship.
Selection Criteria:
Coolidge Scholars are selected based on academic excellence. Additional considerations include a demonstrated interest in public policy, an appreciation for Coolidge’s values, as well as qualities of humility and service.
Scholar Experience:
Selected Coolidge Scholars spend orientation days at the picturesque birthplace of President Coolidge in Vermont during the summer before their senior year of high school. They actively contribute to the Coolidge Foundation’s debate programs and return for a week each summer while in college.
Coolidge Senators:
While only a limited number of students become Coolidge Scholars each year, the top 100 applicants are recognized as “Coolidge Senators.” These Senators are invited to an all-expenses-paid Senators Summit in Washington, D.C., providing them with the opportunity to explore the capital, learn about President Coolidge, and connect with high-achieving students from across the country.
Administration:
The Coolidge Scholars Program is administered by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation.
