DAAD Research Grants Scholarships
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is excited to announce the opening of applications for the prestigious DAAD Scholarship 2025/2026. This scholarship is designed to support exceptional international students in pursuing doctoral studies at top German institutions. It is a fully-funded scholarship offering a comprehensive package that includes:

Degree Level
The DAAD Research Grants Scholarship 2025/2026 in Germany is available for PhD level programs at German universities.

Benefits:
Financial Support

Language Support
- Online Language Course: DAAD will cover the cost of an online German language course after you receive your scholarship award letter.
- Preparatory Language Course (Optional): A 2, 4, or 6-month language course in Germany before your research starts, depending on your current German skills and project needs. Participation is mandatory if your scholarship includes this course and your research requires German.
- In-Country Language Course Allowance: Reimbursement for a German language course taken during your stay in Germany.
- Test Fees: Coverage for the cost of the TestDaF or DSH test, which measures German proficiency. This test can be taken in your home country after receiving your award letter or in Germany during your stay.
Eligible Nationalities:
This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria:
You can apply if you meet the following criteria:
- You have above-average qualifications.
- You are pursuing your doctorate.
- You have completed your Master’s degree, Diploma, or in exceptional cases, a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the funding period.
- You have already completed a PhD (postdoc).
Note: You cannot apply if you are completing your entire doctorate at a German university.
Application Procedure:
Documents Required
- Certificates, Proof of Credits, Certifications, and Translations: These can be scanned in non-certified form and uploaded to the DAAD portal. The DAAD may request certified copies if needed.
- Letter of Recommendation: From a university teacher.
- Other Supporting Documents: Employment records, internships, etc.
- Valid ID: Passport preferred.
- Proof of Doctoral Program Admission: If applicable.
- School Leaving Certificate: Including grades.
- University Certificates: Including grades and an explanation of the grading system.
- German/English Translations: For documents not in English or German.
Selection Criteria
The central selection criteria are:
- A convincing and well-planned research or training project.
- Academic achievements.
Additional documents proving professional aptitude or providing information about extracurricular commitments will also be evaluated. The selection committee considers equal opportunities, and applicants can provide relevant information in the application form.
Application Deadline
The application deadlines are updated annually in the second quarter, typically aligning with the previous year’s schedule. The new deadline for the academic year 2025/2026 is August 30, 2024.
