Scholarship Details:

  • Eligibility: The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships are intended for candidates from eligible lower and middle income Commonwealth countries who wish to pursue full-time taught Master’s study at a UK university.
  • Scholarship Themes: These scholarships are offered under six CSC (Commonwealth Scholarship Commission) Development themes, which encompass various areas of study and research.
  • Partnership Agreement: King’s College London has entered into a partnership agreement with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. As part of this agreement, scholars funded by this scholarship receive support towards their tuition fees directly from King’s College London.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the King’s College London Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships, applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

  • International Students: Applicants must be international students.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • Full-Time Taught Master’s Study: Applicants must be enrolling in full-time taught Master’s study at a UK university.
  • Commonwealth Countries: Applicants must be citizens or residents of Commonwealth countries, including but not limited to: Antigua & Barbuda, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritius, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St. Helena, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia.

Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship provides the following benefits:

  • Airfare: Approved airfare from the recipient’s home country to the UK and return at the end of the scholarship period. Please note that the cost of fares for dependents or journeys made before the award confirmation will not be reimbursed.
  • Tuition Fees: Full coverage of approved tuition fees, as per the agreement between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) and the UK university. Scholars are not required to pay any part of the tuition fee.
  • Stipend (Living Allowance): A monthly stipend at the rate of £1,236. For scholars studying at universities in the London metropolitan area, the stipend is £1,516 per month. The stipend rates mentioned are based on the current levels.
  • Warm Clothing Allowance: Provided where applicable.
  • Thesis Grant: Support towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, as applicable.
  • Study Travel Grant: Assistance for study-related travel expenses within the UK or overseas.
  • Child Allowance: If the recipient is a widowed, divorced, or single parent accompanied by their children living with them at the same address in the UK, a child allowance of £529 per month is provided for the first child, and £131 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16. The mentioned rates are based on current levels.
  • Disability Support: Applicants with disabilities will receive a full assessment of their needs, and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC).

Application Procedure:

Candidates are required to follow the application process outlined below:

  1. Nominating Agencies: Candidates must submit their applications to one of the designated nominating agencies listed below. These agencies will then put forward selected candidates to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC). Please note that the CSC does not accept direct applications for these scholarships.
    • National Nominating Agencies: This is the primary channel for applications.
    • Selected Non-Governmental Organizations and Charitable Bodies: Certain non-governmental organizations and charitable bodies are also eligible to nominate candidates.
  2. Selection Process: Each nominating agency is responsible for managing its own selection process and may have additional eligibility criteria. It is important for candidates to check with the respective nominating agency for specific guidance, application rules, and eligibility criteria. Nominating agencies may have their own deadlines for applications.
  3. CSC’s Online Application System: Candidates must complete an application using the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s online application system. This application should be in addition to any other application required by the nominating agency. Please note that the CSC only accepts applications submitted through the online application system. Other application formats will not be considered.
