The Global Korea Scholarship, which is also referred to as the Korean government scholarship, is now accepting applications for 2023. This scholarship provides fully-funded opportunities for international students to pursue master’s, doctoral, and research degrees in Korea. Foreign students have the chance to study in Korea for free through the GKS Scholarship 2023.
More than 153 students from various regions can benefit from the Korean Government’s Global Korea Scholarship program, which offers a total of 1276 scholarships for higher education in 2023. This scholarship covers all expenses, including tuition fees, for graduate degree students. It is considered one of the top Korean university scholarships for international students.
In order to be chosen as a recipient of the Global Korea Scholarship (KGSP), an applicant must pass the initial selection round conducted by the Korean embassy in their home country or by the universities designated by NIIED, provided that they are citizens of Korea.

Nationality Criteria:
- Applicants and their parents must not hold Korean citizenship.
- Korean citizens and individuals with dual citizenship (Korean citizenship and citizenship of another country) are not eligible to apply.
Applicant Age Criteria:
- Applicants must be under the age of 40 as of September 1, 2020, meaning they were born after September 1, 1980.
- Academic professors who are citizens of one of the beneficiaries of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and under the age of 45 on September 1, 2020 (born after September 1, 1975) are also eligible. Please refer to the table below for the list of ODA beneficiaries.
Graduation Requirements:
- For enrollment in a master’s degree program, applicants must possess or expect to obtain a bachelor’s degree. For enrollment in a doctoral program, applicants must possess or expect to obtain a master’s degree.
- Candidates applying for the research program must have a diploma or education level equivalent to or higher than a master’s degree and must have received an invitation from one of the designated NIIED Korean universities.
- Applicants for the postdoctoral research program must possess a doctorate degree or an equivalent level of education.
English Language Requirements/Certificate: Applicants are required to provide an English language proficiency certificate
