Eligible Nationalities
The KU Leuven Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship 2025 is open to students from all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Previous Education:
- Applicants must have earned their previous degree from a higher education institution outside Flanders.
- International students who have completed credit mobility at a Flemish institution are still eligible.
- Current Enrollment Status:
- Students currently enrolled in a Flemish institution are not eligible, with the exception of those enrolled in preparatory programs leading to a Master’s degree starting in September 2025.
- Other Scholarships:
- The Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships.
- Ineligible Programs:
- Applicants pursuing preparatory, bridging, or distance learning programs are not eligible for this scholarship.
Application Procedure and Selection Process
Application Procedure
Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year are now open as of 15 October 2024, with a deadline of 15 January 2025, 12:00 CET. To apply for the Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship, candidates must follow these steps:
- Submit a Complete Master’s Program Application:
- Candidates must first submit a complete application for an eligible Master’s program at KU Leuven.
- The application must include the KU Leuven Scholarships & Master Mind Candidacy Form, which can be downloaded from the official KU Leuven website (link provided below). This form should be uploaded as an annex to the online application tool.
- Demonstrate Academic Excellence:
- Applicants are encouraged to exceed the minimum program requirements and demonstrate exceptional academic performance. Preference is given to students with a high GPA and excellent English language proficiency.
- Candidates who have received academic awards will also be given preference in the selection process.
Motivation Video Submission
Following an initial selection by KU Leuven faculties, the top-ranked candidates will be invited to submit a 1-minute motivation video. This video should explain:
- How you plan to make a difference in your field of study.
- Your contributions to society at large.
The motivation video will play a significant role in the final selection process.
Selection Process and Timeline
The selection process occurs in three phases:
- Nomination by KU Leuven Faculties:
- Each program can nominate one student who has expressed interest in the Inspiring the Outstanding Scholarship.
- Motivation Video Submission:
- The top candidates will be asked to submit a 1-minute video outlining their motivations and future impact.
- Final Selection by Central Committee:
- The central selection committee will rank the top three students based on their applications and motivation videos.
- The selected candidate will be announced in April 2025.
- If the top-ranked candidate declines the offer, it will be passed to the next candidate in line.
