The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year are fully funded scholarships aimed at international students pursuing master’s and PhD degrees. These scholarships offer a monthly stipend of 1350€, along with additional lump sum payments of 100€ to cover research expenses and subsidies for healthcare.
Funding for this program is provided by the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt). The duration of the scholarship depends on the standard length of your studies (Regelstudienzeit). Initially, the scholarship is granted for one year, with the possibility of extension if the necessary requirements are met. Extensions beyond the Regelstudienzeit are also possible.
The Scholarship Department of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung provides scholars with comprehensive support, including political education events, summer schools, workshops conducted domestically and internationally, symposia, and educational trips. Practical training opportunities are also organized in various areas such as rhetoric, conflict management, time management, self-management, academic skills enhancement, text and writing workshops, as well as specialized seminars on research methodology.

Additionally, the organization may sponsor Euro and German language classes for scholarship holder.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Required Language: Good knowledge of English. German language proficiency at B2 level or above.
- Eligible Countries: All countries worldwide. Priority is given to women, students from non-academic and migrant backgrounds, individuals with social needs, and people with disabilities who have demonstrated achievements and commitment. Applicants from scientific and technical disciplines, as well as graduates of technical colleges, are encouraged to apply.
- Applications will only be accepted in German or English language.
- MA Students must be enrolled at a state or state-recognized German university.
- PhD students must have been accepted at a German university.
- Proof of enrollment (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) for the upcoming semester or at least a letter of admission (Zulassung) from a German university. Enrollment must be confirmed before the scholarship starts.
- Basic knowledge of the German language (additional classes can be sponsored). Proficiency in the English language is required.
- Involvement in social, political, and/or community services.
