The UA Ruhr International Senior Fellowship Programme 2026/2027 invites international scholars to pursue independent research at the College for Social Sciences and Humanities in Essen, Germany.

Established in 2021, the College for Social Sciences and Humanities operates as an Institute for Advanced Study. Eligible Nationalities

Applications are welcome from researchers of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be senior-level researchers (preferably at R4 level)

• Hold a PhD awarded at least six years before the application date

• Be actively affiliated with a university or research institution outside Germany

• Have a strong international publication record in the humanities or social sciences

• Secure a UA Ruhr “tandem partner” before submitting their application

Note: A confirmed tandem partner is required to ensure productive academic collaboration during the fellowship.
