Selected fellows will engage in a six-week fellowship program at host organizations in the United States, enabling them to gain practical knowledge in their chosen field. The YSEALI PFP Professional Fellows Program 2024 in the USA is a fully funded exchange program supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. As part of the Young Southeast Asian Emerging Leaders Initiative Program, emerging leaders from Southeast Asia are provided a unique opportunity to spend five to six weeks in the United States, engaging in relevant fellowship experiences at non-profit organizations, public sector institutions, or private sector companies. The program’s primary objectives are to promote mutual understanding, develop the leadership and professional skills of the Fellows, and foster partnerships between emerging leaders in Southeast Asia and the United States. The YSEALI PFP is divided into four main focus areas: Civic Engagement, Economic Empowerment, Governance and Society, and Sustainable Development and the Environment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must hold citizenship in a Southeast Asian nation and be a current resident of that country.
  • Candidates should be emerging leaders in their respective fields.
  • To be eligible, applicants must have at least two years of professional experience and be currently employed.
  • Professionals from any government, civil society, or private sector background are welcome to apply.
  • The applicant’s professional experience should be relevant to the selected program themes.
  • YSEALI applicants must be between 25 and 35 years old.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English is required.
  • Individuals who are citizens of the United States or permanent residents of the United States are not eligible to apply.
