Types of Scholarships:

Heinrich Boll Foundation offers two types of Scholarship Programs:

  • Promotion Scholarship: available for doctoral degree programs.

Requirements of Application Submission:

  • Evidence of Competence: Proficiency at the B2 or DSH level in German is required.
  • Academic Standing: Excellent academic performance with high grades; may require A+ verification of academic accomplishments if necessary.
  • Civic Engagement: Active participation in civic life and demonstrated interest in politics that aligns with the Foundation’s mission.

  • German and Other Languages Learning in Germany: Consideration limited to candidates with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Non-German EU Nationals and Students: Master’s degree is the minimum requirement.
  • Non-EU Citizens/Students Not Educated in Germany: Master’s degree is the minimum requirement.
