If you’re ready to embark on a rewarding academic journey in Germany, KAS is looking for dedicated individuals who meet the following requirements:
- Hold a university degree with a proven track record of exceptional academic performance.
- Be aged no older than 35 at the time of application.
- Possess a proficient understanding of the German language (B1 or B2 level*).
- Actively engage in voluntary work with a commitment to community involvement.
- Intend to pursue a minimum of 4 semesters at a German university.
- Display a broad educational background and a keen interest in political issues.
- Embrace democracy and advocate for human rights.
- Demonstrate openness to diverse perspectives, practicing tolerance.
- Showcase motivation and the ability to articulate clear life goals.
Application Procedure:
For both Master’s and PhD applicants, the following essential documents are required:
Master’s Students:
- Download and complete the application form.
- Attach the following documents:
- A comprehensive CV detailing your previous voluntary work or social commitment.
- Motivation letter.
- Copies of examination certificates translated into German if the originals are not in English.
- Copies of academic performance records if you have studied at a University in Germany.
- Proof of German language skills (B2).
- Academic letter of recommendation: This should provide information about your academic qualifications and potential, not older than two months, from a university professor or teacher holding a doctoral degree.
- Letter of recommendation focusing on your personality, interests, values, and social commitment. The author should be different from the one providing the academic recommendation.
- Proof of voluntary work, if available.
- Certificate of admission or matriculation from your university in Germany, if available.
PhD Students:
If applying for a PhD Scholarship, include the following additional documents:
- A detailed description of your doctoral thesis: This exposé (4-5 pages in German or English) should outline the central research question, scientific relevance, theoretical approach, motives for the research subject, and include a work and time schedule and bibliography.
- A second academic letter of recommendation: This should be written by the supervisor of your doctoral thesis, if applicable, and replaces the letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality.
- Written confirmation from the intended faculty or department stating that admission to the doctoral program is unconditional, if already available.
