Southampton Presidential International Scholarship 2025
The University of Southampton offers the prestigious Presidential International Scholarship for international students starting their courses in 2025.
Who Can Apply?
This scholarship is open to students pursuing:
- Undergraduate degrees (scholarship covers each year of study).
- Postgraduate master’s degrees (scholarship covers the first year).
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants may receive either:
- £10,000 towards tuition fees, or
- 100% tuition fee coverage.
The award depends on your application and academic merit. A total of 25 scholarships are available:
- 10 full tuition fee awards.
- 15 awards of £10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, you must:
- Apply for a University of Southampton course and have an offer before the scholarship deadline.
- Pay the overseas tuition fee.
- Not be in receipt of an external scholarship that equals or exceeds your tuition fees.
Ineligible Courses
The scholarship does not apply to students studying:
- PGCert, PGDip, Foundation, or PGR courses.
- Distance learning programs.
- Programs with partner institutions or at the Malaysia campus.
- Continuing professional development (CPD) courses.
- Undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Medicine.
- Pre-sessional English programs (unless linked to an undergraduate or postgraduate offer).
Application Timeline
- Applications Open: October 2024.
- Deadline: 5:00 PM (UK time) on 22 April 2025.
Selection Process
Scholarships are awarded through a competitive process involving five stages:
- Eligibility Check: Ensuring you meet the criteria.
- Application Scoring: Evaluating your responses on the application form.
- Department Shortlisting: Recognizing academic excellence across departments.
- Qualification Assessment: Scoring academic qualifications from your UCAS or postgraduate application form.
- Panel Review: Final selection by a scholarship panel chaired by the Vice President International.
Additional considerations: Applicants from Least Developed, Low Income, or Lower Middle-Income countries may also be shortlisted.
- Top 10 applicants: Receive 100% tuition fee waivers.
- Next 15 applicants: Receive £10,000 tuition fee awards.
