The 2024 Marine Scholarship of China, a collaborative initiative by the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and the Ministry of Education of China (MOE), is currently accepting applications. This prestigious scholarship seeks to support outstanding international students from diverse nations in pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees in various subjects, with a particular focus on oceanography and related fields, within China.

Academic Levels:

Duration of Scholarships at Tongji University: Master’s Programs: 2-3 years Doctoral Programs: 4 years Note: An additional year is allocated for Chinese language training if needed.

Offered Subjects:

Subjects provided by Tongji University under the CSC and Marine scholarships in 2024 cover various disciplines, primarily centered around marine sciences and related fields. These subjects are available within participating schools, such as:

  • School of Ocean and Earth Science
  • School of Environmental Science and Engineering
  • School of Civil Engineering
  • College of Electronics and Information Engineering

Scholarship Recipients will primarily focus on majors including:

  • Marine Science
  • Geophysics
  • Engineering

Scholarship Benefits:

For recipients of CSC or Marine Scholarships at Tongji University (for the September 2024 intake), the following benefits apply:

  • Tuition Fee Waiver
  • Accommodation: Free On-campus Accommodation or Off-campus Accommodation Subsidy
  • Monthly Living Allowance:
    • Master’s Students: RMB 3,000
    • Doctoral Students: RMB 3,500
  • Comprehensive Medical Insurance

Those awarded either the CSC Scholarship or the Marine Scholarship at Tongji University for the September 2024 intake will enjoy these advantageous provisions, encompassing waived tuition fees, accommodation support, monthly living allowances, and comprehensive medical insurance coverage.

Applicants must be citizens from non-Chinese regions, specifically:

  • Coastal/Island Countries of the South China Sea,

Eligibility Requirements: Educational Qualifications: For Master’s Degree Applicants:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields is mandatory.
  • Age limit: 40 years.

For Doctoral Degree Applicants:

  • Master’s degree in related fields is required.
  • Age limit: 45 years.

Procedure for Applying to the Marine Scholarship or CSC High-Level Postgrad Scholarship at Tongji University:

  1. Complete an online application on the CSC Website:

  2. Submit an additional application through Tongji University’s Portal, including all necessary documents electronically.

 Application Deadline:

  • Deadline for online admission application submission for Tongji University Marine or CSC scholarships 2024-2025: January 20, 2024.

Selection Process:

  • Evaluation by an expert panel based on educational background, academic capability, and relevant experiences.
  • Final approval by China’s Ministry of Natural Resources and the CSC.
  • Results announcement expected around May 2024.
