What Is the Inspire Scholarship?

Funded by generous donors, the Inspire Scholarships are designed for full-time undergraduate students beginning their first year at any of Ulster University’s three campuses:

  • Belfast

  • Coleraine

  • Derry~Londonderry

The scholarship ensures that financial limitations don’t prevent talented students from pursuing a university education.

Scholarship Benefits

Funding Details

  • 20 scholarships worth £3,000 per year, up to £9,000 over three years (placement years excluded)

  • 7 scholarships worth £2,000 per year, up to £6,000 over three years (placement years excluded)

This funding can help cover tuition fees, accommodation, and other essential living costs.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

General Requirements

  • Have a permanent home address in Northern Ireland

  • Be completing an accepted Level 3 qualification (such as A-Levels or BTEC) at a Northern Ireland institution

  • Hold and confirm an offer from Ulster University as a first choice via UCAS

  • Have a household income of £22,500 or less

  • Be studying a full-time undergraduate degree at one of the listed campuses

Meet One or More of the Following:

  • Be the first in their family to attend university

  • Be a carer for a family member or dependent

  • Be estranged from parents

  • Have experience in care (fostered, adopted, or in care for 3 months or more)

  • Be in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

  • Live in a high-deprivation area (use the NISRA postcode checker to confirm)
