You’ve proven yourself as a student, as an artist, or as an athlete… or maybe even as all three. Drake University offers a wide range of scholarships designed to reward incoming students for their talents, no matter where those talents are on display.

National Alumni Scholarships:
The Drake University National Alumni Scholarship (NAS) is Drake’s most competitive scholarship program. The National Alumni Scholarships are awarded to outstanding first-year students entering directly from high school who meet all criteria and complete the full application process.
For students entering college for the Fall 2022 term, a number of scholarships will be awarded and will range in amount, including one full-tuition scholarship.
Scholarship eligibility, criteria, and the application process will be announced by November 1, 2021 on this page. The deadline to apply will be December 1, 2021. All eligible applicants must do the following in order to apply for consideration for these scholarships:
- Complete the application for admission (and all required admission checklist items) by 11:59pm CST on December 1, 2021
- Submit the (separate) National Alumni Scholarship application by 11:59pm CST by December 1, 2021
Notification of awards will be in early March 2022.
Fine Arts Scholarships:
Fine Arts Scholarships are available to select students who display exceptional talent in art and design, music, or theatre arts and who are seeking a fine arts degree. Information and applications for these scholarships are available from each of Drake’s fine arts departments (art, music, and theatre arts).
Legacy Awards:
Drake University Legacy Awards honor full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students who are children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Drake graduates.
The $2,500 annual award (one award per student) is not based on financial need, must be applied only to the cost of tuition and is renewable for up to eight full-time semesters. No separate application is required.
To qualify you must list your legacy information within your admission application and the Drake degree must be conferred before the student begins enrollment.

Athletic Scholarships:
NCAA Division I Athletic Scholarships
Division I Athletic Scholarships are offered to outstanding student athletes in both men’s and women’s sports. Men’s scholarships are awarded in basketball, soccer, track and field, cross-country, golf and tennis. Women’s scholarships are available in basketball, track and field, cross-country, golf, soccer, volleyball, softball, tennis, and rowing. National Merit Scholarships:
National Merit Scholarships range from $1,000 per year for students with no financial need to $2,000 per year for students who demonstrate financial need.
Incoming first-year students who rank as National Merit finalists and who have indicated Drake University as their first-choice institution may be considered for Drake-sponsored scholarships. Students who receive a corporate sponsored National Merit Scholarship are not eligible for a Drake sponsored National Merit Scholarship.
Pharmacy Hero Scholarships:
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences awards a limited number of 6-year Pharmacy Hero Scholarships to entering first-year students from high school who are pursuing Drake’s PharmD program.
Award: The Pharmacy Hero Scholarship is a $3,000 award, per year, for two years. The scholarship is awarded to only entering pre-pharmacy students, but applied for the student’s P3 and P4 years of Drake’s PharmD degree ($3,000 a year for two years; total of $6,000). The Pharmacy Hero Scholarship can be applied in addition to other Drake tuition scholarships for PharmD students.
Application Process: Eligible Fall 2022 candidates must apply to Drake as a pre-pharmacy major by December 1, 2021. A student’s application for admission will automatically be considered for the Pharmacy Hero Scholarship.
In addition, Pharmacy Hero Scholarship applicants will be required to attend either an on-campus visit or virtual program within a specific time period in their college search. participation in the following programs meet that criteria:
