Scholarship Background

Funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care, the research aligns with recommendations from the Australian Human Rights Commission’s 2021 report titled Ensuring Health and Bodily Integrity.
The Interconnect Health Research Project
The Interconnect Health Research Project is a national initiative spearheaded by a multidisciplinary team comprising researchers, clinicians, and community groups. Over a five-year period, the project will focus on three key work packages to enhance health services and policies:
Work Package 1: Evaluation of Care Models
Evaluate clinical and peer-led care models within Canberra Health Services, as well as the national InterLink psychosocial support service.
Work Package 2: National Health Survey
Conduct a national survey to assess the health and wellbeing needs of individuals with innate variations of sex characteristics (IVSC).
Work Package 3: Development of Bioethical Frameworks
Create bioethical frameworks that support timely and ethically sound healthcare access throughout the lifespan for people with IVSC.
