Scholarship Benefits:
This scholarship program comprises three awards, one from the Steve Weston Scholarship fund and two from the Trust Scholarships. Each selected candidate will receive the following benefits:
- Payment of academic tuition fees (exact amount to be confirmed for the 2023-24 academic year).
- Monthly stipend for living expenses, totaling £12,600 distributed over 12 monthly payments at £1,050 per month.
- An arrival allowance of £750 to assist with initial settlement.
- An additional allowance of £580 for the thesis or internship report.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold an Honours degree, with a second-class upper level or above, in Law, Economics, Geology, Petroleum, Mining Engineering, or Finance. Applicants from other academic backgrounds may also be considered if they provide a clear explanation of their motivation for pursuing the relevant LLM program and highlight any relevant legal work experience.
- Have received an offer for the September 2023 intake for either the LLM in International Mineral Law and Policy or the LLM in International Oil and Gas Law and Policy.
- Meet the University of Dundee’s English language entry requirements.
- Demonstrate intellectual ability and show potential for leadership.
- Possess a proven track record and exhibit the potential to assume influential positions.
- Ideally, be qualified lawyers with some post-degree work experience in the energy or natural resource development sector, gained in government, private industry, or academia.
- Commit to completing the degree within a 12-month timeframe. It is expected that international students will return to their home countries upon completion of the study period.
Application Procedure:
To apply for the Steve Weston Scholarship, candidates should follow the outlined procedure:
- Once applicants have received an unconditional offer for the LLM in Mineral Law and Policy or LLM in International Oil and Gas Law programs, they are required to submit a Personal Statement and an updated CV via email attachment.
- The Personal Statement should highlight various aspects, including leadership qualities, communication skills, networking abilities, academic potential, integrity, and outside interests. It serves as an opportunity for candidates to showcase their strengths and suitability for the scholarship.
- It is important to note that the selection process is highly competitive. Successful candidates are expected to become outstanding representatives of the UK.
