Neufert-Foundation Scholarships for International Master’s Students in Architecture

The Neufert-Foundation Scholarships are available to international students who wish to pursue a master’s degree in Architecture studies. These scholarships are awarded by the Neufert-Foundation to students who have finished their Bachelor’s degree and are commencing a Masters program in the fields of architecture, landscaping, and urban development.

The Neufert-Foundation is committed to preserving the cultural and architectural legacy of Prof. Ernst Neufert, a former Bauhaus student and the author of Bauentwurfslehre. Throughout his career, Ernst Neufert extensively traveled to gain experiences and deepen his understanding of architecture. His international studies played a significant role in shaping his extensive and widely recognized body of work. In line with this, the foundation aims to assist young architects in acquiring their own international experiences, recognizing the value they bring to their professional development.

Scholarship Coverage:

The Neufert-Foundation Scholarships offer a generous scholarship grant of 2500 Euro to successful applicants. This financial support aims to assist students in their academic pursuits and alleviate some of the financial burden associated with their studies.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for Neufert-Foundation Scholarships, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Required Language: Proficiency in English or German.
  • Eligible Countries: Open to students from all countries worldwide.
  • Academic Background: International students in the fields of architecture, landscaping, and urban development are eligible to apply. They should have completed their studies at a German university or abroad with a Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or a similar academic degree. Additionally, applicants should be commencing a Master’s program at a German university.
  • Architectural Excellence: The submitted work should demonstrate architectural quality and originality.
  • Statement of Purpose: Applicants should provide a comprehensive explanation of their reasons for choosing to participate in a Master’s program abroad.
  • Professor’s Reference: A reference or recommendation from a professor should be included.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Grade: The overall grade achieved in the Bachelor’s degree will be taken into consideration.
  • Application Quality: The quality of the application itself will also be evaluated as part of the selection process.

Note:

Regarding the completion and continuation of the Master’s program, the following conditions apply:

  • Master’s Thesis Submission: Upon completion of the Master’s program, the student is required to send a copy of their Master thesis to the Neufert-Foundation. Both printed and digital versions of the thesis should be provided. It’s important to note that the foundation reserves the right to publish and display the thesis as part of its publications related to the scholarship.
  • Repayment Obligation: If the Master’s program is not successfully completed, the student is obligated to repay the scholarship grant within a month. This repayment requirement is applicable unless the student has a valid and significant reason for discontinuing the program. In such cases, the repayment obligation may be waived.

How to Apply:

To apply for Neufert-Foundation Scholarships, please follow the application instructions outlined below:

  1. Prepare the following application documents:
  • Motivation Letter
  • Chronological CV, including spoken languages and a recent photograph
  • Notarized copy of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Transcript of records for studies in architecture, landscaping, or urban development
  • Reference from a professor at the university where the student received their Bachelor’s degree
  • Statement explaining the reasons for choosing the specific international university/institution
  • Admission/registration confirmation from the international university
  • Portfolio containing a minimum of four assignments, including the Bachelor thesis (printed in DIN A3 format)
