The Confucius Institute scholarship offers a range of benefits for students, including coverage of tuition and lodging fees for a university residence, where they will share a room with another person. Additionally, students will receive basic medical insurance and a monthly allowance for personal expenses. The allowance is divided based on the type of course being pursued: BTCSOL students or those taking Chinese language and culture courses will receive 2,500 Yuan per month (approximately 350 USD/month), while MTCSOL students will receive 3,000 Yuan per month (around 420 USD/month).
While scholarship recipients were traditionally required to live on-campus, recent discussions have raised the possibility of opting to live off-campus. In such cases, the Confucius Institute will provide an additional 700 Yuan per month (in addition to the regular monthly allowance) to help cover housing costs.

If you’re interested in applying for the Confucius Institute Scholarship, the following steps should be followed:
- If you are a student at a Confucius Institute, it is recommended that you contact the person responsible for scholarships to obtain further information.
- The application must be completed online through the official Confucius Institute Scholarship website, and all necessary documents should be scanned and uploaded, including a passport-size photo and a copy of your passport.
- If you are not a Confucius Institute student, you may still apply online and submit your application documents to the nearest Confucius Institute, a Chinese embassy or consulate in your country, or to an exam center or educational institution in your country that is affiliated with Hanban.
