The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is inviting applications from qualified young Africans who are interested in pursuing a career in the financial sector. The purpose of the Afreximbank Internship 2023/24 is to provide young Africans with the opportunity to develop their careers, which will in turn benefit trade opportunities in Africa. By participating in this internship program, successful applicants will gain a better understanding of the Bank’s mandate and operating model, which they can apply in their future careers. This will not only benefit the Bank, but also contribute to the growth of trade in Africa.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be considered for the Afreximbank Internship, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Must be a student enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program at a recognized institution.
  • Applicants who are pursuing degrees in economics, business administration, finance, accounting, social sciences, statistics, law, or related fields are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Must be a national of a member state of the Bank.
  • Must be fluent in either English or French, and have a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese will be an added advantage.
  • Must be between the ages of 20 and 32 in the year of application.
  • Any other applicants may be considered at the discretion of the President.

Internship Benefits:

he following benefits will be provided to interns prior to the commencement of their internship:

  • Reasonable return fare transport costs to their internship location will be covered.
  • A monthly tax-free stipend of USD 800 will be paid at the end of each month to assist with living expenses.
  • During the induction period, interns will be provided with accommodation in a hotel selected by the Bank, with bed and breakfast included, for one week upon arrival at the internship location based on their previous location.
  • Transfer to the hotel upon arrival and return transfer upon departure will be arranged.
  • If required, interns will be provided with the relevant visa for the duration of the internship program.

To apply for the African Export-Import Bank Internship 2023/24, interested applicants must complete an online application and provide the following information:

  • A letter of application.
  • A copy of their current CV.
  • A copy of a valid passport.
  • Certified copies of relevant academic certificates.
  • A recommendation for the internship from their attending institution, including the proposed duration of the internship, up to a maximum of six months.
  • A short statement of intent (maximum of one A4 page) indicating what they hope to achieve from the internship program.
