Here’s what the scholarship entails:

Degree Level:

The scholarship supports Master’s and PhD programs at GIST.

Available Subjects:

You can choose from a wide range of subjects under this scholarship program.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Tuition Support: Full coverage of tuition fees, amounting to 3,415,000 won per semester.
  • Monthly Allowances:
    • Student Grant: 140,000 won per month for M.S. students, and 295,000 won per month for Ph.D. students.
    • Meal Subsidy: Approximately 100,000 won per month. Note: Students must have completed a minimum of 9 credits in the preceding semester for eligibility.
    • International Student Support: 120,000 won per month, requiring a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the previous semester.
  • Research Support:
    • M.S. students involved in research projects receive 4,820,000 won per year.
    • Ph.D. students involved in research projects receive 11,480,000 won per year.
  • Health Coverage:
    • 60% coverage of the Korean National Health Insurance fee.
    • Annual Medical Checkup.
  • Flight Compensation: Reimbursement for a one-way flight to Korea for incoming international students.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for admission:

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree to qualify for enrollment in a Master’s Program.
  • Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree to qualify for enrollment in the Doctoral Program.

Application Procedure:

Step 1: Online Application Submission
Begin your application process by filling out the online application form and uploading the required documents. Select your field of study and ensure thorough completion of all relevant sections on the application form, accessible through the SERVICE LINK.

Step 2: Confirmation by International Admissions Coordinator
Once your application and necessary documents are submitted, expect communication from the International Admissions Coordinator. Keep track of your application status by monitoring the “My Status” section on the online application portal.

Step 3: Admissions Notification
Watch out for notifications regarding your admission status, which will be sent to the provided email address. Typically, notifications are sent around June 15 for Fall admissions and November 30 for Spring admissions. Admitted candidates must respond to admission offers within 15 days of notification.

Step 4: Enrollment Completion and Matriculation Fee Payment
Accepted the admission offer? Proceed with enrollment at GIST within the designated timeframe. Upon enrollment, you’ll receive an admission packet containing the Certificate of Admission, Certificate of Financial Sponsorship, and a Letter of Invitation. To complete enrollment, submit required documents and pay the non-refundable Matriculation Fee of 680,000 won.

Step 5: Student Visa Application
If you require a student visa, obtain the application form from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in your home country. Include the Certificate of Admission with your application. Upon visa approval, coordinate your travel to Korea with assistance from the Section of International Relations (SIR) and your school or department staff.

English Requirements and Conditional Admission:

To demonstrate English proficiency, provide official test scores (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) meeting the following minimums: 80 (TOEFL iBT), 550 (TOEFL PBT), 6.5 (Academic IELTS), 750 (TOEIC), or 285 (NEW TEPS). In cases where official English test results are unavailable, GIST may offer conditional admission. Conditional admission requires submission of English proficiency documentation within 6 months of admission.

Matriculation Fee Waiver Application:

Applicants experiencing financial constraints can apply for a Matriculation Fee waiver. Complete the waiver application within the online form and upload a recommended letter from your department chair at your current/last university. The Admissions Committee will review applications and notify applicants alongside admission results.
