As a Software Engineering Intern at Google, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of computer science projects, including developing scalable and distributed software systems, collaborating on smaller projects that have universal appeal, and engaging in research and asking questions. We are a collaborative, global organization consisting of engineers who are passionate about taking on challenges and making an impact on our users.
You will work on our core products and services, as well as supporting critical functions of our engineering operations. Our team focuses on finding innovative ways to advance search quality and refine and scale complex auction systems, among other technical challenges. You will help develop solutions to some of the most interesting technical problems out there, and will be encouraged to research, conceive, and develop software applications to extend and improve Google’s product offerings, collaborating on scalability issues involving large amounts of data and information.

Minimum qualifications:
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Masters, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field at a Brazilian university, with an expected graduation date of December 2023, due to local compliance requirements.
- Experience writing code fixes and programming in at least one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Preferred qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following requirements for this internship:
- Available to start the internship in August 2023 and commit to 30 hours per week for Bachelor’s students and 40 hours per week for Masters and PhD students. The internship will end after a period of 3 months.
- Prior experience in tech internships or working in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design. This experience could come from roles such as research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects, or similar.
- Ability to manipulate code to improve system availability and latency, as well as optimize code for stability, functionality, and scalability in a specific area of Google’s infrastructure, service area, or within a technology domain such as crawling, search, or troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
As an intern in this role, you will be responsible for the following:
- Applying the knowledge gained from computer science courses to real-world problems and effectively solving them.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution for a given problem.
- Developing scripts to automate routine tasks, making processes more efficient.
- Supporting a productive and innovative team by collaborating with peers, managers, and other teams to achieve shared goals.
