This internship program is scheduled to commence in August 2023 and will span 14 weeks. It presents an exciting opportunity for participants to work on various computer science solutions, including the development of scalable, distributed software systems. The internship also provides opportunities to collaborate on numerous smaller projects with universal appeal that require research, interactivity, and questioning.

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be working on our core products and services that support critical functions of our engineering operations. You will be tasked with finding innovative ways to advance search quality, refining and scaling complex auction systems, and developing solutions to some of the most interesting technical problems.

Minimum qualifications:

To meet the local compliance requirements, applicants must currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s, Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field at a university in Brazil and are expected to graduate in December 2023. Additionally, applicants should have experience in writing code fixes and programming in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

The preferred qualifications for this position are:

  1. Availability to start the internship in August 2023, with the ability to work for 30 hours per week for Bachelor’s students and 40 hours per week for Masters and PhD students. The internship duration is three months.
  2. Experience in tech internships or working in computer science, with demonstrated competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design. This can include experience as a research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects, or other relevant experiences.
  3. Ability to manipulate code to improve system availability and latency and optimize code for stability, functionality, and scalability for a segment of Google’s infrastructure, service area, or within a technology domain. Examples of such technology domains may include crawling, search, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this position include:

  1. Applying computer science knowledge acquired through coursework to solve real-world problems.
  2. Analyzing information and evaluating results to determine the best solutions for effective problem-solving.
  3. Developing scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline processes.
  4. Collaborating with peers, managers, and teams to support a productive and innovative work environment.

By performing these responsibilities, the candidate will gain valuable experience in solving complex technical problems, working collaboratively with a team, and developing practical solutions to real-world challenges.
