Scholarship Description:
The Centre for African Studies at the SOAS University of London is pleased to announce the offering of a PhD scholarship to African nationals as part of the Governance for Development in Africa Initiative (GDAI) funded by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
The scholarship aims at supporting PhD studentships focused on the area of state capacities, governance and bureaucracy for development. African students who are passionate about advancing their educational pursuits are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship, funded by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation and focuses on supporting African PhD students with projects designed to understand public sector governance capabilities, political settlements, state business relations, the governance of state owned enterprises, the governance of development policy design and implementation, and so on.

For the Scholarship, applicants are to meet the following criteria:
- Must first secure an unconditional offer for the PhD at SOAS University of London in eligible departments.
- Must have obtained relevant bachelor and master’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- Demonstrate excellent educational and leadership abilities.
