The Undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarships have been established to provide support to students who aspire to maximize their academic potential and contribute to the vibrant University community, consisting of students and staff from more than 140 countries.
These scholarships are designed to acknowledge outstanding academic accomplishments and help scholars access our exceptional teaching and learning resources, while also benefiting from the various opportunities available within the University to nurture their aspirations for the future.

All campus-based undergraduate degree programs within the mentioned areas are eligible for the scholarships, except for the following programs, which are considered ineligible:
- All Flexible Combined Honours programs
- BMBS Medicine
- Degree Apprenticeships
- Dual LLB/Juris Doctor (JD) with the Chinese University of Hong Kong
- Legal Practice Certificate
- Graduate Law LLB
Entry requirements
To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships, you must meet the following criteria:
- You are classified as an international student for fee purposes, including EU students required to pay international fees in the 2023/24 academic year.
- You have already received an offer for an eligible undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter, with a planned start date in September 2023. If you have not yet submitted your application for the program, please visit our Undergraduate study pages for more information.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following criteria:
- Academic merit, which is assessed based on the information provided in your UCAS application. Typically, applicants are expected to have achieved or be capable of achieving the equivalent of GCE A level grades AAB or International Baccalaureate 34 points. For the Business School, the expectation is higher, set at GCE A level grades A*AA or equivalent. Additional guidance can be found on our Entry Requirements pages.
- The ability to demonstrate the following during the application process: academic ambition, future career aspirations, a genuine need for the scholarship and how it will support your ambitions, a sense of social responsibility, and a willingness to engage with the Exeter community.
How to apply
To apply for one of these scholarships, you need to complete the webform provided on our website after receiving your offer.
As part of the application, you will need to submit a personal statement of no more than 300 words. The statement should address the following questions:
- What is your interest in your chosen program of study, and what do you hope to learn from it?
- What are your future ambitions, and how will your studies help you achieve them?
- What would receiving a Global Excellence Scholarship mean to you, and how would it make a difference?
- As a Global Excellence Scholar, how would you act as an ambassador for the University?
Please note that Round 2 of the application process is now closed. Notifications have already been sent out for the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy, as well as the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Notifications for the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences are expected to be sent by the end of June 2, 2023, and affected candidates have been notified by email.
These scholarships are awarded as a reduction in the first-year international tuition fee and are not renewable for subsequent years. Please review the full Terms and Conditions for this scholarship scheme available on our website.
