Eligible Nationalities:

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for a Chevening Scholarship, you must:
  1. Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  2. Commit to returning to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after completing your award.
  3. Have fulfilled all requirements for an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for admission to a postgraduate program at a UK university by the application deadline. Typically, this is equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK, although this may vary depending on your chosen course and university.
  4. Possess at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.
  5. Apply to three distinct eligible UK university courses and secure an unconditional offer from one of these choices by July 13, 2023.
However, you are not eligible for a Chevening Scholarship if you:
  1. Hold British or dual British citizenship, unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong.
  2. Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country. Applicants holding refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country remain eligible for the scholarship.
  3. Are an employee, former employee, or a relative* of an employee of His Majesty’s Government. This includes the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, all British Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, and the UKVI, as well as the British Council, a sponsoring UK university, or a staff member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
  4. If you are an employee, former employee, or a relative* of an employee of Chevening Partner organizations, you can apply, but you are ineligible if the employment occurred within the last two years. In such cases, you cannot receive a Chevening Partner Award from the organization you work for, previously worked for, or are affiliated with through relatives.
  5. Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship.

Furthermore, having a master’s degree does not disqualify you from applying for a Chevening Award to study for a second master’s degree in the UK, as long as you can clearly articulate how it aligns with your career plan to drive positive change in your home country.
