Degree Level:

The DAAD SEARCA Scholarship Program 2024 (Fully Funded) is available for Master’s and PhD level programs at DAAD – Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst.

Available Subjects:

The scholarship covers programs in Agriculture, Food Sciences, Environmental Science, and Natural Resource Management.

Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship encompasses coverage for various expenses, providing comprehensive support to successful applicants:

  1. Tuition and School Fees: The scholarship covers the costs of tuition and school fees.
  2. Study and Research Allowance: A dedicated allowance is provided to support study and research expenses.
  3. Printing Allowance: Scholars receive an allowance to cover printing costs related to their academic pursuits.
  4. Stipend for Food, Lodging, and Incidental Expenses: A stipend is allocated to cover living expenses, including food, lodging, and other incidental costs.
  5. Travel Allowance (For In-Region Only): In-Region scholars receive a travel allowance to facilitate their travel requirements.
  6. Insurance: Comprehensive insurance coverage is included, encompassing health, accident, and personal liability.

Additionally, DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholars have the opportunity to apply for a research grant in Germany for a period of 2 to 6 months. This grant includes:

  • Monthly Scholarship Payment for Living Costs: Scholars receive a monthly scholarship payment to support their living expenses.
  • Health/Accident/Personal Liability Insurance: Comprehensive insurance coverage for health, accident, and personal liability is provided.
  • Flat-Rate Travel Allowance: A flat-rate travel allowance is granted to facilitate scholars’ travel to Germany.

Eligible Nationalities:

Citizens from the following countries are eligible to apply: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Timor Leste, Thailand, Vietnam.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Staff at Public University: Applicants should be affiliated with a public university.
  2. Candidate for Teaching/Research Staff or from Public Sector: The scholarship is open to candidates involved in teaching or research staff or those from the public sector.
  3. Age Limits: Below 35 years for Master’s, below 40 years for PhD.
  4. Last University Degree Completed Within Six Years of Application: The candidate’s last university degree should be completed within six years of the application.
  5. Proposed Thesis Research Alignment: The proposed thesis research must align with SEARCA’s theme: Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN).

  • Agri-Business Models for Productivity and Income
  • Sustainable Farming Systems and Natural Resource Management
  • Food and Nutrition Security
  • Transformational Leadership in Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD)
  • Gender and Youth Engagement in ARD
  • Enhanced ARD for Climate Resilience
  • EcoHealth/One Health Applications to ARD

Application Procedure:

To apply for the DAAD Scholarship 2024, ensure you follow these steps and gather the required documents:

  1. Completed DAAD and SEARCA Application Forms: Fill out the DAAD and SEARCA application forms in their entirety.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) Highlighting Publications: Provide a comprehensive CV that highlights your academic and research publications.
  3. Signed Recommendation Letter from University Teachers: Obtain a signed recommendation letter from university teachers supporting your application.
  4. Transcripts’ Copies: Include copies of your academic transcripts.
  5. Copies of Certificates/Diplomas: Provide copies of relevant certificates or diplomas.
  6. Copy of Passport or National ID Card: Submit a copy of your passport or National ID card.

    • Declaration of acceptance from the supervisor.

    • Abstract of the proposal.
