For the academic year 2024-2025, the Government of Flanders presents the Master Mind Scholarships, catering to international students pursuing master’s degrees. These fully funded scholarships include an annual grant of €8200, coupled with a tuition fee waiver.

Geared towards outstanding candidates, these scholarships support master’s programs at Flemish universities, Schools of Arts, and the Antwerp Maritime Academy. The primary goal is to position Flanders and Brussels as top-tier study destinations.

Application Process:

Applications for the Master Mind Scholarships 2024-2025 should be submitted through Flemish host institutions. Approximately 30 international students are anticipated to be beneficiaries. It’s important to note that students cannot directly apply; instead, the application process is facilitated through the Flemish host institutions.

The Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships 2024-25, Belgium (Fully Funded) is open for master’s level programs at universities in Belgium. The scholarship encompasses all subjects, providing flexibility across various academic disciplines.

Scholarship Benefits:

Administered by the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training, the Master Mind Scholarship is a comprehensive package for outstanding global students pursuing master’s programs in Flanders and Brussels. It includes a €9,600 grant and a tuition fee waiver per academic year (60 ECTS). Scholarship recipients are only responsible for an administrative enrollment fee. The grant is disbursed in installments, covering accommodation, insurance, and a substantial portion of living expenses.

Eligible Participants:

This scholarship is open to students of all nationalities worldwide.

Qualification Criteria:

Candidates aspiring to enroll in a Master’s degree program at a Flemish higher education institution must meet specific academic and language proficiency standards:

Academic Excellence:

Applicants are expected to demonstrate high academic performance, typically represented by a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0.

English Proficiency:

Proficiency in English is essential and can be proven by meeting either of the following criteria:

  • An overall band score of at least 7.0 in IELTS or a total score of 94 in TOEFL.
  • Attainment of C1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference or an equivalent in an officially recognized language test by the host institution.
  • Online versions of IELTS (IELTS Indicator) and TOEFL (TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition) are acceptable.
For applicants to schools of arts within the master’s program:
  • An overall band score of a minimum of 6.5 in IELTS or a total score of 90 in TOEFL.
  • Attainment of B2 level in the Common European Framework of Reference or an equivalent in an officially recognized language test.
  • Online versions of IELTS (IELTS Indicator) and TOEFL (TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition) are accepted.

Host Institution Acceptance:

Applicants must secure acceptance from the host institution, as this is a prerequisite for obtaining the Master Mind Scholarship. The institution’s decision may be communicated after the scholarship program’s selection process.

Nomination Process: Each applicant can only be nominated by one Flemish higher education institution. If preselected by multiple institutions, the applicant must choose one for application submission via the Mobility Online tool.

Eligibility Criteria:

All nationalities, except Russian nationals, are eligible to apply. Previous degrees must be obtained from institutions outside Flanders. Exceptions apply to international students already enrolled in a specific preparatory program for a master’s program starting in September 2023.

Ineligibility:

Certain programs for the academic year 2023-2024, such as preparatory programs, bridging programs, and distance learning, do not qualify for the Master Mind Scholarship.

Study Mobility: While student mobility to partner institutions outside Flanders and Brussels is allowed during the master’s program, at least half of the study credits must be earned at the Flemish host institution.

Application Process:

  1. Confirm eligibility and check if your chosen Flemish institution participates in the Master Mind Scholarships.
  2. Submit your application to the host institution.
  3. The host institution preselects eligible applications.
  4. The host institution initiates the Master Mind Scholarship application process by creating your application file in the Mobility-Online application tool.
  5. Receive an email notification of being preselected for a Master Mind Scholarship via the Mobility-Online tool.
  6. Register in the Mobility-Online tool and complete your application file before the deadline, including necessary documents such as a passport photo, international passport or national ID, curriculum vitae, transcripts, language test results, a letter of motivation, and two signed letters of recommendation. https://www.scholaro.com/gpa-calculator/ 
  7. The host institution validates and submits the completed application file in the Mobility-Online tool before the deadline on April 28, 2024, at 23:59 GMT+1. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be accepted.
